Joanita Nalwanga
I am a passionate Public Health Specialist and Epidemiologist with over 10 years of experience in disease surveillance, outbreak investigation, health systems strengthening, and community health programming. I hold a strong academic and professional background in epidemiology, operational research, and health policy implementation, with demonstrated expertise in managing public health emergencies and strengthening health service delivery in both urban and rural settings.
Throughout my career I have led and contributed to numerous public health initiatives across Uganda, including responses to infectious disease outbreaks such as cholera, Ebola Virus Disease, COVID-19, and mpox. I have worked closely with government agencies, international organizations, and research institutions to design evidence-based interventions, conduct rigorous epidemiological analyses, and inform national and sub-national health policies.
My competencies include data-driven decision-making, monitoring and evaluation, capacity building, and stakeholder engagement. I am passionate about improving health outcomes among vulnerable populations through applied epidemiology, health equity, and strengthening community resilience.
Iam committed to bridging the gap between research and policy and fostering health systems that are responsive, equitable, and resilient.
