A summary of person-centred care (PCC) science at IAS 2025

Person-centred care (PCC) is increasingly recognized as a cornerstone of the HIV response, emphasizing holistic approaches that prioritize individual needs and preferences. Recent evidence highlights the importance of integrating HIV services with mental health and non-communicable disease management to address interconnected health challenges that amplify health vulnerabilities. This is especially important considering the ongoing global funding shifts. Structural barriers, including stigma and fragmented health systems, remain critical challenges, underscoring the need for coordinated, inclusive strategies to improve health outcomes and achieve sustainable progress toward global targets. This summary showcases the latest evidence on person-centred care approaches for people living with and affected by HIV presented at IAS 2025, the 13th IAS Conference on HIV Science – from prevention to treatment and including targeted-population approaches and integration strategies across the HIV care cascade.
