Harm reduction in EECA: Drug use trends, responses and results

Dr. Tetiana Deshko has worked in HIV/AIDS and harm reduction since 2001. At the Alliance for Public Health in Ukraine, she led national HIV programs for key populations, reaching over 250,000 people annually and helping reduce new infections. The program is internationally recognized as a model for the EECA region. Since 2011, she has managed multi-country projects across Asia, East Africa, and EECA, expanding access to PrEP, advancing prevention technologies, promoting human rights, and supporting transitions to domestic health funding. Following the war in Ukraine, she engaged in humanitarian response. In 2016, she co-founded the Harm Reduction Academy. She holds a PhD in social sciences
