Putting people first: Person-centred care approaches to reach key populations and strengthen progress towards 95-95-95 targets

Kevin Mendez is a Belizean queer social justice advocate on the mission to create equitable, inclusive and safe spaces in Belize and Caribbean Region for fulfilled lives and wellbeing of LGBTQIA+ persons, persons with HIV, youth and women. Involved in Belize's HIV responses for the past 15 years as a community advocate and resource mobilizer and, Primary Representative of Key Populations in the Country Coordinating Mechanisms in the last 5 years, he provides the platform to voice community needs and concerns, input these into HIV-related programs and policies to be responsive to their targets, and link resources to users. Additionally, his mission is complemented by the unique opportunity to be a TV Host of Sunup on 7, allowing for human rights and social justice related conversations to be brought into the living space of Belizeans to promote a mind and hearts shift to reduce discriminations towards LGBTQIA+ persons, encourage health seeking behavior and increase demand of health and social services available like SRH Healthcare and mental health services.
