Community-based research in vulnerable populations in Latin America

Community-based research (CBR) refers to the joint work of researchers and community stakeholders who form an equitable partnership. CBR allows access to specific populations and topics that other types of research do not, especially the most vulnerable populations. There are various socio-structural factors related to inequalities in sexual health including aspects related to intersectional violence. The aim of this symposium is to show relevant CBR carry out in LA, to present the Iberoamerican Network on Gay Men, other MSM and Trans Studies (RIGHT PLUS) work and, contribute to the discussion on main intermediary and structural aspects linked to sexual health and related communicable diseases in vulnerable population, including migrants and gender-sexual diversity in the context of socio-political response in the Region. Researchers and community workers from various universities and community-based organizations from Latin America, Spain and Portugal will participate.
